LFG!! Salvage Purgatory Release Weekend

Quick cancer update: still recovering from surgery. Had some massive bleed-through the day after surgery and had to go back to the surgeon (I warned them I was a bleeder) to get the wound site redressed. Since then, been a pretty smooth-ish recovery journey so far. Sitting sucks, laying down is uncomfortable, and standing isn’t really a good idea, so… I switch around a lot. Lay down, sit, stand, rinse, lather, repeat. My employer is being awesome right now and letting me heal slowly, since I am probably going to be out from work longer than anticipated.

This weekend I had another book come out. Salvage Purgatory, the first book in The Invasion series which is set in Kevin Steverson’s Salvage Title Universe, is available now. Coauthored with Nick Steverson and Kevin Steverson, Salvage Purgatory tells the tale of Captain Michelangelo “Miggy” Morrison and the crew of the FSS Cabrillo as they struggle to pay the bills in a solar system where the local bureaucrats are seemingly out to ruin them. We’re especially proud of this book and can’t wait to hear what people say about it. Bonus–if you have Kindle Unlimited, it’s part of that, so… free book? Anyway, here’s a link so you can go and grab your copy today.

The best part is, Book 2 (Salvage Harbinger) comes out on November 8, so there isn’t a very long wait between books. That will conclude my part in the duology which kicks off The Invasion series, since Kevin Steverson’s third book in The Invasion will be coming out in December sometime. Also, side note, but Side Hustle Vol. 2 is still coming out November 4, so I’ve got quite a bit going on in the month.

Dancing with Destruction is almost done. Just waiting on one last story to turn in their edits, and then I’ll be prepping it to send to Toni at Baen Books. The stories in this anthology are amazing, and I can’t wait for people to see what I’ve been babbling about the past six months. I also signed on to do another anthology with a similar theme, this one tentatively titled Chaos and Consequences. Still working on Monster Hunter Files Vol 2 with Larry Correia, which should pick up now that he’s no longer under a crushing deadline for Heart of the Mountain (which I got to read already and OMG!).

Currently I’m also working on my secret project with Melissa Olthoff (which just cracked 85,000 words yesterday, which is crazy because we only started the book on August 13 and we lost a little over two weeks worth of writing due to Dragoncon and surgery). No, I’m not going to share the title, or even the series. SECRET. How secret? SUPER SECRET.

Unfortunately due to recovery time and pain levels, I won’t be attending WyVaCon (October 12) this year. It’s the first one I’ve missed in a long time, and it bothers me to no end that I can’t go. However, I’m marking down next year’s WyVaCon as a definite must-attend. Even if I have to wheel my ass around in a wheelchair, I’m going.

However, the signing at The Tangled Web in Spartanburg, SC on October 26 is still a probable “go.” That’s far enough out from the surgery that I’m hopeful the pain levels will be down by then. Joining me at the signing will be NYT bestselling author David Weber, and the bestselling powerhouse couple of Jacob Holo and H.P. Holo/Edie Skye. That’s going on from 2PM until roughly 5PM. There will be copies of our latest books (Rebel and The Thermopylae Protocol by David Weber, Freelancers of Neptune by Jacob Holo, and Monster Girl Tamer by Edie Skye & H.P. Holo… hey, wait a second! How…?). There also should be copies of Mountain of Fire available for purchase as well. I also have a few extra mass market paperbacks of Monster Hunter Memoirs: Fever I’ll be giving away to attendees as well. Be warned, there are limited numbers of Fever available, so it’ll be first come, first serve.
