Been busy the past month moving stuff around at the office and two infusions in February, so I didn't have a lot of energy to spare for anything outside of a bit of writing. Melissa Olthoff and I finished our edits for Book 1 of our new series, and last night we detail outlined Book … Continue reading Just A Boring Update
Books I’m Looking Forward To In 2025
Yeah, every writer is still a reader (at least, usually), and we're fans of other people's writings. 2025 promises to be a good year for readers, and here are the top 4 books I'm really looking forward to reading in 2025. SHADOWS UPON TIME by Christopher Ruocchio (DAW Books, Book 7 of the Suneater series) … Continue reading Books I’m Looking Forward To In 2025
Confusion and Anger
"Jason's been.... snippy lately. Ready to bite people's head off. Even angry." Well, yes. On January 11, sometime between 9:00AM and 11:00AM, the only man who'd ever tried to be a dad to me passed away in his sleep. He was 87 years old and has been battling health issues the past few years. In … Continue reading Confusion and Anger
Two Cover Reveals!
Yep, I've got not one but two cover reveals this week! Best of all, they're in the same series! Some longtime readers might recognize the name Quintus Fox. I've written... 7 stories now in his vast universe but, until recently, never really got around to writing him a novel. That all changed over the weekend … Continue reading Two Cover Reveals!
2024 Year in Review
I've been pretty good about doing one of these every year the past few years. 2023 was a banner year, with one of my highest words written count ever at over 537,000 words written, and 7 published works. I thought I wasn't going to be able to replicate that in 2024. I didn't repeat them. … Continue reading 2024 Year in Review
The Great Christmas Shopping List (2024 Edition)
Brief health update: I'm alive (yay!) still, and heading into my next cancer infusion treatment on Wednesday. It's been exhausting. I also just got back from Dragonsteel Nexus late last night (technically early this morning because there was a nasty accident right in front of my ride and we were stuck in traffic for almost … Continue reading The Great Christmas Shopping List (2024 Edition)
THREE DAYS UNTIL THE END BEGINS
Only three days left until Salvage Harbinger, Book 2 of The Invasion, drops. Nick and I are super stoked about this one. Captain Morrison and the Cabrillo must stop the invaders in their tracks, or the entire galaxy will be at risk. With only a single vessel to fight against an armada, what chance do … Continue reading THREE DAYS UNTIL THE END BEGINS
Side Hustle: Vol. 2 is out!
The print version actually went on sale November 1, but the ebook is now LIVE exclusively on Amazon and KU. 12 stories, including one never before published, as well as 5 Quintus Fox short stories and tie-ins, 3 Freehold stories (I've been in all three anthologies to date), and a Black Tide Rising short story. … Continue reading Side Hustle: Vol. 2 is out!
The State of the Solo Debut Mainstream Novel
The heading isn't misleading. I just wanted to talk about my first solo foray (we're not counting collaborations here, or anthologies) into mainstream publishing after **coughcough** years in indie and small press. More importantly, why I'm not regretting it, but why I also am still not going fully trad in the coming years. First of … Continue reading The State of the Solo Debut Mainstream Novel
LFG!! Salvage Purgatory Release Weekend
Quick cancer update: still recovering from surgery. Had some massive bleed-through the day after surgery and had to go back to the surgeon (I warned them I was a bleeder) to get the wound site redressed. Since then, been a pretty smooth-ish recovery journey so far. Sitting sucks, laying down is uncomfortable, and standing isn't … Continue reading LFG!! Salvage Purgatory Release Weekend
Life Update
So... I've been reluctant to post about this because of how much is going on right now, plus it being in the middle of one of the busiest convention seasons we've had post-lockdowns, but the news broke this afternoon when the Baen Free Radio Hour went up, so... On Aug 23 I went in to … Continue reading Life Update
SALVAGE PURGATORY cover reveal
Check out Salvage Purgatory, Book 1 in The Invasion, the new mainline series set in Kevin Steverson's Salvage Title Universe. Coauthored with Nick and Kevin Steverson (Steversons?), the talented father-son writing duo, this begins the new series where The Coalition left off. Something is coming that will change everything... Overall, not a bad cover image … Continue reading SALVAGE PURGATORY cover reveal
It’s LIVE! And I’ll be LIVE as well
Mountain of Fire is out and in the wild! I just got back from Dragoncon late last night (yes, I was gone for a full week... that's Dragoncon in a nutshell) and I'm wiped out, but I should have an AAR up and running sometime this evening. But at Dragoncon we did the release of … Continue reading It’s LIVE! And I’ll be LIVE as well
19 Days
Yeah, it freaks me out a little, too. Only nineteen more days until my first solo novel from Baen Books is released! Mountain of Fire is one of those really cool ideas that pop into your head when the publisher asks if you could turn a short story into a novel. Using a few towns … Continue reading 19 Days
2024 Imadjinn Award
So the word came in that Larry Correia and I won an Imadjinn Award for our novel Monster Hunter Memoirs: Fever in the category of Best Urban Fantasy novel last night at the Imaginarium Convention. I've attached part of their press release below. The Imaginarium 2024 Awards Banquet was held last evening, where the winners … Continue reading 2024 Imadjinn Award
