Failure To Update Ver. 1.2.1

Worst. Author. Ever.

So I received my tentative Dragoncon schedule a few weeks back and promptly forgot to post it here. Yep, I’m a moron. I’m also on the fantasy track more than anything else, which is fine by me. There’s plenty of fantasy in The Warp.

Title: The Pen and Sword: Arming the Written Word

Time: Fri 04:00 pm Location: International North – Hyatt (Length: 1 Hour)

Thoughts: This could be fun, because I love doing panels with Mark Wandrey. I promise to behave (some) during this panel.
Title: Fantasy Gather
Description: Celebrate the start of the Con & meet the voices of Fantasy literature. Authors will be here to meet you & sign books. Who knows what surprises & treasures you will find?
Time: Fri 08:00 pm Location: Hanover C-E – Hyatt (Length: 4 Hours)
(Tentative Panelists: )

Thoughts: Signing my soul away, one book at a time.

Title: Amazons and Assassins

Time: Sat 11:30 am Location: Embassy EF – Hyatt (Length: 1 Hour)

Thoughts: Holy f*cking shipballs, Batman. Eric Flint and S. M. Stirling on a panel with myself and Kacey?

Title: Stealing from the Past

Time: Sat 05:30 pm Location: Embassy EF – Hyatt (Length: 1 Hour)
(Tentative Panelists: Griffin Barber, Eric Flint, Naomi Novik, Walter H. Hunt, Jason Cordova)

Thoughts: I like Griffin Barber and Naomi Novik. Eric Flint is one of my favorite authors, and I have a feeling I’ve met Walter Hunt before somewhere. This should be another fun one.

Title: The Four Horsemen: A Roundtable Discussion

(Tentative Panelists: Robert E. Hampson, Kevin Ikenberry, Chris Kennedy, Mark H Wandrey, Kacey Ezell, Jason Cordova)

Thoughts: The Kakata Korps returns! The boys from Liberia will be talked about as Mark and Chris share the direction of the 4HU in the upcoming books.

Title: All the Subs! (or, at least, a good number of Fantasy categories)
Description: Ever wonder what litRPG is? Or Supervise? How about Weird West? Prairie Gothic? Time for some answers! What makes these splinter parts of Fantasy more than just one-off themes.
Time: Mon 01:00 pm Location: Embassy EF – Hyatt (Length: 1 Hour)
Moderator / MC for panel
(Tentative Panelists: R.R. Virdi, Quincy J Allen, Jason Cordova, Aleron Kong, Doug Dandridge)

Thoughts: I think I’m Moderating this one but I don’t know yet. Doug, Quincey, and I will be ready to lay waste as we talk about the hottest subgenre out there today — LitRPG.

One really cool thing about Dragoncon this year is that, while I’m not a finalist, a lot of my fellow authors over at Chris Kennedy Publishing made it as finalists for the 2018 Dragon Awards. Of course the usual host cried and moaned about being butthurt about it (you know who you are) but the most grievous of insults was hurled at my publisher, Chris Kennedy. Someone accused him of being a Kindle Unlimited Factory Publisher, which basically is claiming that he is gaming the system on the KU. I know this is utter bull because when he sends the MONTHLY royalty checks he shows the breakdown of what sold where. Since he signed a distribution deal with Baen Books a few months back certain novels are unavailable for KU, including four of mine.

Even cooler, though, is that Deathlords, Book 3 of the Kin Wars Sagawill be released on Aug 30 while I’m at Dragoncon. I’m super excited about continuing the story of the Espinoza clan and early reader response has been overwhelmingly positive. I’m hoping that the sales are high enough that I can push through and knock out Book 4, Homeguard.
