I’m alive, I swear. I’m nearing the end of the epic fantasy novel and I keep forgetting to update here.
Kurt Miller, the cover artist of multiple New York Times bestsellers, was tasked with doing the artwork for the next Black Tide Rising anthology, WE SHALL RISE. My short story, Appalachia Rex, was chosen to be the “cover story”.

Yeah, so my whole “Catholic schoolgirls vs zombies” story? It’s scheduled to be published June 2021 from Baen Books, along with stories from Mike Massa, Jody Lynn Nye, Kevin J. Anderson, Brendan Dubois, Kacey Ezell, Christopher L. Smith, and others. Edited by John Ringo and Gary Poole. Super excited about it because I finally got my Kurt Miller cover. 😀
Now to get my own novel with a Kurt Miller cover….
I can figuratively see the finish line for the epic fantasy novel. I have two big battles to right, two “council meetings”, and then some tie-in scenes to finish bridging one scene to another, and then it’s off to my alpha readers for a quick once-over before off to the editor. I was originally going to delve back into the Four Horsemen Universe after this novel ended but I’m having so much fun in this fantasy world right now I might stay in and just continue onward into book two. I don’t usually get that way during the writing process but there’s so much going on in this world I feel like I should just stick with it.
Not much else going on around here. Still waiting for the bank to say “Yeah, go ahead and fix your roof.” Windows won’t get done this year, though. Maybe next year.
