For the record, I didn’t enter the Baen Fantasy writing contest (congratulations to the winner and everyone else who participated, by the way) because my “fantasy short story” turned into a six book epic adventure fantasy series. While it would have been cool to enter and see how well I could have done, I’m fairly certain I haven’t figured out “short fantasy” yet.

I went and saw “Guardians of the Galaxy” yesterday. Pretty good movie, though I felt that the first little “How Star-lord Got Into Space” back story was unnecessary and the entire movie would have been just as good had we started the movie from when we meet adult Star-lord. I’m going to have to watch it again, though, because I missed some dialogue during the movie due to laughing too hard.

I’m rereading the Harry Potter series right now. It’s been 7 years or so since I read the last book in the series, and rereading it now, I see a little more subtle cues and minor mistakes in continuity from Rowling that I missed before. Still a great series, though, and none of these little errors take anything away from it.
