Where have I been lately? Well, packing. And writing. And editing, can’t forget that.
DID I MENTION LOTS OF PACKING?
For the past three months I’ve been prepping for a move. Not just any move, either. It’s a move that both my employer and I have been thinking about for over two years now, ever since I became one of only two people not working remotely. Combined with a change in my current job (yes, I still work at Baen Books, just in a hugely different capacity now) I’ll be able to join the remote workers of the company. This means I can move wherever I want.
I briefly looked at Maine (COLD! SNOW! But more importantly, COLD!) until their tax rates made my toes curl. Plus, they’re pretty insular up there. But cheap land! Oh, it was temtping.
However, it was not meant to be. So naturally, because I hate the heat so much, I’m moving further south. Makes total sense.
Between packing, finishing edits for Chaos and Consequences, wrapping up edits for the short story “Skeeters” coming out in Troy Rising in September, edits for Vessels Grim and Daring, the second Bronze Legion book (still gotta do copyedits…not sure when that’s going to happen), and wrapping up the third book of the Quintus Fox series (Stars Over El Dorado). Oh, and other short stories I owe (including three I never saw coming and wouldn’t have predicated two months ago).
I went and survived Libertycon. Had a blast, as usual, and they announced that next year I will be the Master of Ceremonies for Libertycon 39. That means I’ll be doing lots of panels, Q&As with the Guests of Honor, and hosting the GoH luncheon.
While at Libertycon, I spoke with Chris Kennedy and Kevin Ikenberry about the Four Horsemen Universe 2.0 and the idea they had. I (jokingly) suggested bringing back a dead alien species I killed off in one of my books and they both were receptive to the idea. So…I’ve got three short stories to write (plus a mech story I owe someone else) to get done before September. Easy, right?
Because of the move this week (literally tomorrow), I had to drop out of Imaginarium Convention this coming weekend. There was no way I could do the move and still make it to the convention. I also dropped out of Dragoncon this year as well. I hope to be back at both conventions in 2027.
2026 has been a pretty wild ride so far. The adventures continue.
And now a word from our sponsor… did you know you can preorder the next Bronze Legion book NOW?
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A HERO?
The Protectorate of Mars Foreign Legion isn’t just a path to citizenship—it’s a calling. To be more than you were before. A defender, a protector . . . a hero.
COURAGE
Private Diego Tavi proved his worth during the evacuation of Aurora, earning his drop name and finding a new home within the Bronze Legion. But beneath the calm exterior of a battle-tested legionnaire lies a mind in turmoil—about who he is, what he will become, and whether he will be able to keep his sworn oath to be the best legionnaire possible.
HONOR
Lieutenant Astra “Blue” Eliassen proved herself ready for command in the skies of Aurora, earning her Raven wings and a promotion to aircraft commander of Bronze Raven Four. But everything has a cost, and rescuing 4th Squad carried a steep bill—one Sir Percival Norwood is determined to collect. With political games interfering with her military career, Blue will have to lean hard on the lessons of her legendary grandmother or risk losing everything she’s worked so hard for . . . including her dreams of joining the Survey Corps.
Welcome to the Bronze Legion
