The Obligatory Updated Part Deux

Writing Music of the Moment:  “Generation Dead” by Five Finger Death Punch

Talk about a crazy two weeks. I’ve been so busy running around and dealing with this new job that I’ve forgotten to update the website.

Plus side of new job: more income! Yay!

Down side of new job: not nearly as much writing time. Boo!

One of the things I’ve always envied some writers is their ability to juggle real life and their fictional creations. Larry Correia is a fine example of a man who is a great parent, supporting husband and fantastic writer. He somehow manages to balance time between his family, his fans, and his writing. I’m a little jealous at his time management skills (because, let’s be honest here, most of it is nothing but time management, something most people suck at).

I think a lot of my own issues come from the fact that I get sidetracked and then lose all track of time. And by lose track of, I mean “Hey, what’s this?” and ten hours later I still haven’t written much, but I do know a lot more about squid (which could be claimed as research, except… yeah).

Plus, there are still some issues with both books right now that are bothering me, and I can’t put my finger on what it is. Yes, they’re both kaiju novels, but they differ greatly from one another. I think part of me is just a little burned out from kaiju and I need to write something else. I mean, it’s pretty much all I’ve written for a year now.

I’ve thought about setting them aside and working on the sequel to Wraithkin for a bit, but I still don’t know who the second main character is. I’ve been writing Andrew’s tale and neglecting everything else. While Andrew is fun to write, the entire premise of the series started with Gabriel. Darkling is definitely going to be a strange story, but it should segue nicely into Deathlord. We shall see.

In the meantime, I’m supposed to be writing a ZA story in an established universe and the only thing I can think of is a Yakety Sax chase scene through the Louvre. While hilarious in my head, I don’t know if I can pull it off. Especially since the star of the story is a humorless German thief named Günter.

I think I have another story due soon as well, but for the life of me I can’t remember what it is. I have a sneaky suspicion that it’s a Sha’Daa story, though.
